I couldn’t speak more highly of Jason as our DJ. When first meeting Jay he was friendly, outgoing and really knew what he was talking about. Me and my husband walked in not really knowing what we wanted or what to expect and he helped us with suggestions and was really honest with us. He didn’t pressure us into picking one package over the other. Jay is one of those people, among our many vendors, that you just feel comfortable with immediately.
\nJay is really quick with email too. I would email him and he almost always got back that same day.
\nAt our last meeting before the wedding, he desrcibed in detail how everything would work and even wrote down our bridal parties names phonetically so he would pronounce it as it was supposed to be and not just reading it and thinking that was the pronunciation. (I thought that was a really classy touch.)
\nThe day of the wedding, he came down to talk with us again and the rest of the bridal party and explained what he was going to do, the introductions and so on. He really coordinated the wedding and kept it flowing. Jay approached me when he thought we should get moving on the cake (people were pulling me left and right) and asked me if it was okay to play the ‘Chicken Dance’ as this was on our ‘do not play list’ because an older family member really wanted it. Again, I thought that was a great touch.
\nAlso, I really appreciated the fact that Jay not only played todays hits by keeping our personality in mind, but he mixed in a lot of oldies, which my family really liked and to my surpise had my friends jamming out to as well. The music was ecclectic and well-rounded but still in keeping with our tastes. There wasn’t a lull in the dancing at all. From start to finish, the dance floor was packed. When it came time for the night to end, Jay noticed that the party was still going strong and asked if we wanted to extend it longer- which we did- My guests would have been dancing all night if we let them. It was refreshing to see the younger crowd and older crowd dancing together to todays hits and yesterdays classics.
\nSomething really struck me during our last consulation with Jay that is worth mentioning. It came time to pay for his services and I commented on how the DJ was such a small amount of money compared to what we’re spending on the wedding and even made a joke with the amount of popularity he has, that he should raise his prices. Jay’s response was classy- he said that he is comfortable with his prices and that he didn’t think it was necessary, that he just enjoys doing it. He also said that if you think about it, the DJ is such a small amount of cost, but if the DJ messes up, then people will always remember that the music was bad. They’ll forget about the decor and the food, but music is something that people never forget. I’d never thought about it like that, but it’s very true. I’ve been to numerous weddings where the music is just lack luster, making it less of a party than it should be because people aren’t up and dancing the night away.
\nMoral of the story, hire Jason; he’s a professional DJ with many years of experience, who knows what he’s talking about and knows how to keep the party alive. He’s resonably priced and his set up is classy as well.
