Why is it important to visit a wedding venue that I’ve never played at? Well  its extremely important to be on the same page with an event coordinator. Also to find out the rules that one place may have. This may be for noise levels, time constraints on the party and or set up times. I also like to find out where the load in is with regards to my equipment. Even though it is lighter than yester year’s there could be elevators evolved, stairs or long corridors that make it time consuming. With the size of the room or a tent that you are having your wedding in my visit will  determine how much sound I would have to bring. I wouldn’t employ a small sound set up to play at a 300 capacity room. Acoustics also play an important part in my decision whether there is a need for a different sound package. You never want to show up to a wedding reception un prepared. All of things I mention make you wedding night that much enjoyable and run smooth.
